A recent article published by Anthropocene Alliance highlights SCoRE Signature Partner and External Advisory Council member Garry Harris and “his journey from his early interest in the energy field to his career in nuclear engineering, and his mission to mentor black youths.” Garry’s work has taken him from University of Virginia, to Westinghouse Electric Corporation, to a nuclear industry watchdog organization, to a government agency. After experiencing multiple environments in the industry where “elitism and cronyism ruled and the knowledge, skills, and credentials of Garry and his black colleagues were constantly questioned” he branched out on his own, founding the Center for Sustainable Communities where he still serves as Founder and Executive Director.
Garry’s story is one of “early beginnings, courage, perseverance, and seeing it through.” We invite you to read the rest of the story!
